ALLEY RATS

Big rats, small rats
come to chime grandfather's clock
White,
 black, gray rats
All posing on the table top
with
"Pseuso TB" and "Salmonellosis"
infest the farmer's household.

Young rats, old rats
wild,
 naughty, selfish rats
cut the fellow's night gown
Brawny,
 callous, evil rats
danced into the little rat-trap
like Goliath into David's sling-shot.

Cold, anxious, Norwegian rats,
like squatters on a captured lot
moved home in winter and rainstorm aftermath
Transporting traces of
"Toxoplasmosis'
"
Encephalitis" "Newcastle" and "Ornithosis
Transmit these on their foe
Storing garbage enticed their nose

And keep them coming home.

Male rats, female rats
Every rat knows his cat
that never wants to spare a rat
So when the cat walks the floor
Rats look down from the roof-top
While cat keeps lurking around.

Cruel rats, infectious rats
with contaminated feet.

Dangerous, contagious rats
carry some deadly disease.

Rural rats, urban rats
"
Leptospirosis", another old plague,
They'll leave it anywhere

So when a rat walks in his cup
Perhaps,
 its plagues are home
And if a rat nibbles his bread
Perhaps he'll just refuse it all
or,
 dispose it beyond the wall
For anything rat ever touched
Perhaps,
 will leave a scar.

Vicious little rodents, stroll around the home
gnawing and scratching in the night
with cruel teeth as sharp as saw,

appear when he's asleep
May Theos bless his poor little feet.

While evil rats try to nibble his toes
perhaps,
 the fellow's gone home.
Deadly rats still running around.
